Explaining Climate Resilience Ratings

The Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index (ND-GAIN) created the Urban Adaptation Assessment (UAA) initiative to help city planners and leaders understand how best to invest scarce resources to cope with the intensifying effects of climate change. A key aspect of the UAA is a methodology that enables participating cities to compare scores on a variety of indicators. These indicator scores summarize each city’s vulnerability and readiness on dozens of important socioeconomic criteria. Early in the development of the UAA, to assist ND-GAIN in recruiting participants, Crow Insight carefully crafted an interactive data story to walk users through the calculation and use of indicator scores for a fictional city.
